Route Overview: Emirates Dubai to Narita Flight
On my flight, the journey from Dubai to Tokyo Narita was smooth and well paced. The total flight time was 11 hours and 45 minutes, which is a long stretch onboard. That amount of time allows space for eating, sleeping, working, and watching several films. Overall, the flight felt manageable because the service flow created clear, predictable stages. From my perspective as a neurodivergent traveller, that structure made the experience easier to handle over such a long distance.
I cover rail travel in Japan, including bullet trains (Shinkansen) and Suica cards, in a separate guide.

On the flight, I took photos of the in-flight drinks menu offered in Business Class.

The Emirates Dubai to Narita Flight Snack
Emirates offers a set meal service in Business Class, while First Class operates on a dine-on-demand basis. I discovered that the menu on this long-haul flight was split as a snack option and a main meal. You can choose the order you prefer during the flight. The menu included three starters, three main courses, and three desserts, plus an optional cheese board.
For this flight, I chose the Japanese cuisine options to ease into the food I expected to eat in Japan. Below, I show the mixed sushi dish I selected as my snack option.

Cabin Environment and Comfort
The Emirates Business Class cabin offers a spacious and controlled environment, which I appreciated on a long-haul flight. The seat, lighting, and entertainment system all include adjustable settings, allowing me to tailor the space to my preferences. Features like mood lighting, storage space, and a quieter cabin helped create a calmer atmosphere throughout the journey. I found that having control over my immediate seating environment made a noticeable difference on such a long flight.
Onboard Meal Experience
During the flight, Emirates served meals with a clear structure, which I found easy to follow. The menu offered a range of international and regional options, with enough variety to suit different preferences. Cabin crew were available to answer questions about dishes and ingredients when needed. I pre-ordered the Japanese option, which arrived during the main meal service in a traditional bento box.

The bento box arrived neatly presented, with each item separated into its own compartment. The tray included katsu chicken with rice, tofu bites with noodles in broth, miso soup, avocado, fruit, pickled vegetables, and slime mushrooms.
The separation made it easy to try items individually without flavours mixing. I skipped the slime mushrooms, as the texture was not for me, but the rest of the meal worked well together. Overall, the presentation felt deliberate and appropriate for a Japanese meal service on this route.

Helpful and Practical Tips
Here are some helpful and practical tips to ensure a seamless dining experience:
- Emirates allows you to pre-order meals in Business Class using the Emirates app. This confirms availability before boarding.
- Passengers must book Chauffeur Drive ahead of travel, as it is not automatic. If you live outside the included mileage radius, an additional distance fee now applies. Allow enough time for both the drive distance, airport check-in, and time in the Emirates premium lounges.
- I have also written a separate post about staying hydrated on long-haul flights.
- Emirates supplies noise-cancelling headphones in Business Class, which help reduce cabin noise.
- Emirates’ cabin crew are accommodating and happy to help. Don’t hesitate to express your needs or preferences, or even just chat about life, to ensure a comfortable and pleasant journey.

Skywards WiFi

Once meal service finishes in Emirates Business Class, I usually watch a film or connect to the onboard WiFi. I have personally used NordVPN for over eight years and althought it can be slow, I use it when accessing inflight internet. I explain my full setup and reasoning in a separate guide on using a VPN for travel, which covers why I consider it essential on public networks. For me, it is a simple step that makes going online during a long flight feel more controlled.
Conclusion
Flying Emirates Business Class from Dubai to Tokyo Narita was a comfortable and well-structured long-haul experience. From the cabin layout to the meal service, the flight felt predictable and easy to manage over a long distance. With some preparation, the journey worked well for me and delivered what I expected from Emirates on this route.
The first night of this trip included a stay at Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya. The trip also included time in Hiroshima, where I visited the Atomic Bomb Dome and stayed at the ANA Crowne Plaza Hiroshima by IHG. I then returned to Tokyo for the final two nights at the APA Tokyo Bay Hotel to attend a trade show at the Makuhari Messe Exhibition Halls.
